I often wish that the charms and incantations mentioned in the Harry Potter series were true. Wouldn't it be wonderful to jinx away the evil eye or charm the loved one with a little swish-swoosh? Why does these wonderful spells have to be the figment of our imagination? If only these spells were possible, I would so love for the following charms to be real :-
• Accio charm : Imagine a situation when a particularly engrossing episode of Grey’s anatomy is on. Hubby who till then was busy reading the newspaper wakes up to an ecstatic me going absolutely bonkers overMc Dreamy Mc Steamy Mc Dreamy (ok both). He coolly takes the remote lying down and changes the channel to a news channel or worse still a pathetic re telecast of a cricket match. If the charm was for real, I would simply say 'Accio Remote' and the black piece of control would nestle back safely in my hands.
• Expelliarmus :- I enter the clothes section of a showroom and a stunning top/dress/kurta catches my eye. Pity, it catches my attention a nano second late and the said object of affection is in the hands of another lady(read opponent). Say 'Expelliarmus' and disarm the target of their possession. Lo & behold the dress is all ours. The coveted item need not be a dress it can also be a more enticing piece of a cauliflower in the market too :P
• Confundus Charm :- If the above target comes charging to fight for the dress, confuse and befuddle her with this Confundus' charm. The charmed would be more than happy to hand over the dress/vegetable to us.
• Obliviate :- I would so love if hubby ceases to remember the endless number of dresses or shoes I end up buying. Yes, it would be divine if he forgets saying’ but didn't you just buy one last week/month/summer. Say this charm and free hubby from remembering the stashes.
• Expecto Patronum :- There are bouts of self pity and depression that hit yours truly. Yes, the easiest way to navigate them is to simply stay off all social media. But since that is not a given, I would rather prefer invoking the 'Expecto Patronum' charm. I have even thought of my charm carrier - a dolphin. And and all dreariness would go swimming out to the ocean.
• Scourgify :- Truly wish this charm was for real ; who wouldn't like a clean home/work station/dress without having to break a sweat. Just say the charm and voila you are engulfed in clean/shining/sparkling world.
• Wingardium Leviosa :- I love saying this charm; just for the fun of it say 'Wingardium Leviosa' and see the objects fly out of people’s hands.
o Stupefy - Knocks out the evil eye.
o Locomortar Mortis – Locks up the target’s legs.
o Immobulus - Makes the target immobile.
o Petrificus Totalus - Body Bind the target.
o Jelly Legs Jinx - Renders the target’s leg useless and make them wobble about.
o Imperio Curse - If things really start to get out of control, you can use this curse to make the target obey your spoken/unspoken command.

While the above spells are pure harmless fun, I would so love if the charms and one curse mentioned below be under the beck & call of all womenfolk. {Rapists/stalkers/eve teasers and ilk be warned}
o Locomortar Mortis – Locks up the target’s legs.
o Immobulus - Makes the target immobile.

ReplyDeleteInitially even I remained unaffected from all the Harry Potter mania. My sister and sis-in-law who are heavy duty HP fans would constantly prod me to get addicted.
