Dance like no one's watching

---- Samuel Beckett

I love dancing. Dance is infact my anchor that keeps me sane. Neither am I a professional dancer nor have I learnt any form of dancing but that does not stop me from breaking into a jive every opportunity I get.  Whenever I hear foot tapping music, I get possessed by the beat and then it's boogie woogie like no tomorrow.

Dance is feeling the music, following the beats with your heart and just simply letting go. Infact, I don't even need blaring music to make me hop & jig; my mind is a live radio show with music played and replayed 24*7 and dance automatically follows. I dance as I cook, while watching TV or even when I read books. Why I even do a mini jig of sorts on the road if a particularly good number comes rushing to my mind. Yes, I am that crazy :).
.

A recent research suggests that babies are born to dance and that dancing comes naturally to them. So we all have the natural ability to dance. Then where does it disappear over the years? We become so busy in getting ahead in life that we forget to enjoy something as basic as dance. Yes we do dance celebrating birth or marriage or during.  But then it is for a purpose. But my question is do you dance without a purpose? Just for the heck of it ? Just for fun?

For me dance is the most liberating and therapeutic exercise. Anybody can dance as long as they shed the inhibitions and flow with the moment.

Dance when you are happy, dance when you are sad, dance for a reason, dance without purpose. Dance to get lost from the mundane existence and get lost in dance. Most importantly dance like no one’s watching.

So don’t just sit there - get up n boogie woogie.

  7. I can't dance, just can't. I have tried, look like a big hamster trying to fly! Now I know a lot of people who dance worse than me, but they don't care! Somehow I can't develop that craziness :)

  10. I love dancing but can't dance to save my life. But, I fulfilled my dream of dancing before an audience...never mind where. So, last year I dance in my housing society's annual function...that too Lavani. Another dream fulfilled.

  11. I think most people stop dancing because they get conscious about others watching! I used to be very self-conscious, but now, I love dancing!
