Unbridled Savagery, Upbeat Women

Unbridled savagery shook the country last week,
Unarmed innocence caught in fire,
Usurping body, mind and soul and not remotely alarmed,
Under despair and situation fraught.

Utter fury engulfs me,
Urging me to do something; anything,
Undo what happened; I can't,
Utopian Society I seek.

Uncanny abilities must surface,
Unleash, women must - their real power,
Upper hand we will have,
Unbeaten and upbeat we will remain.

  7. A very beautiful poem. You've lived up to the challenge with flying colours.
But on a more sombre note, I wish there was something we could do rather than talk so impotently while little kids and women get raped and brutalised around us.

    1. talking about it and spreading awareness is a start cynthia ; mustering support from social groups/political activists begins when every individual contributes in whatever little he/she can. thanks & cheers

  11. Beautifully written for a not so beautiful situation. Indian women need a champion who will relentlessly campaign for rights just like Emmeline Pankhurst did for the suffragette movement.

  18. Hello Priya, I am visiting from A to Z. It is so important that people are willing to raise awareness of the injustices around us. I am glad you are a voice out there. Don't chase after Utopia, though. It is a farce and leads only to more lies and injustice. Freedom is the key. Thanks for speaking out. God bless, Maria at Delight Directed Living
